The Shimmering Jewel of Oregon’s North Coast Seaside, Oregon is arguably the shimmering jewel of Oregon’s North Coast area. I say arguably because it seems the locals keep there little pieces of parodies clean as a crown jewel, almost like its a competition to see who can be the most regal in treating visitors to Seaside like majestic royalty, outdoing each other and other local municipalities. WHERE TO STAY A pluthera of adequate and superfluously elegant quarters line the beach-front and dotting the backwater areas are more of the same as well as affordable, tenantable, family stile dwellings. Among the higher end are the Shilo Inn, The Ocean View Resort and Trend West Resort. For more family style and quiet alcove’s try the Custer House, Venice RV Park or log on to www.shopseaside.com and find just what you need. WHERE TO EAT There is no doubt in what little mind I have left, that Bigfoot’s Pub & Grub is by far the best in the area for food and atmosphere, The times my wife and I have shared there have been, well, Delicious. Next in line, some of our other local favorite’s: Creekside Pizzeria, The Bell Buoy of Seaside Restaurant and Harrison’s Bakery are GREAT tourist refueling stations. HOW TO GET THERE & GETTING AROUND You can rent a car, sand buggy, surrey, trike, bike or take the Seaside trolley. Almost everything is within walking distance, and cabs are Cheap, If walking back to your lodgings on a long evening is just too much to bear. On the other hand, if you have to fly there’s also a good transportation service I recommend that rents by the hour or flat rate called Ex Nihilo Transport, They also specialize in airport transportation to and from PDX & SEATAC.
